Born in Ile-Ife, Oshun State, Nigeria. Akintola possesses a B.A. Translation (Arabic/English) from the prestigious Al-Azhar University, Cairo; M.A., M.Phil. Arabic & Islamic Studies, University of Ibadan, Nigeria and Ph.D Islamic Studies, University of Ilorin, Nigeria.
Currently an Associate Professor of Islamic Studies at the Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos State.
Director, Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC, an Islamic human rights NGO).
Coordinator, Muslims Against Aids (MAIDS, an Islamic HIV/AIDS awareness NGO )
Authored several books: magnum opus: Shari'ah in Nigeria: an Eschatological Desideratum
